Disney Very Merrytime Cruise 11/2021

Image
When taking a cruise we always fly down the day before. Flying down the day of can be a little risky if your flight doesn’t leave on time or worse canceled.  We flew into Miami and spent the night across the street from the port. Our cruise was at about 50% capacity. We were given an upgrade. Our original reservation was an inside cabin room but our upgrade provided us with a secret port window!! With the cruise only being at half capacity, it didn’t feel crowed and allowed for us to social distance.  Boarding the ship There were lots of hurry up and then you would wait. To even enter the building we needed our reservation email with time of our check-in. Had we known this was an absolute must, we would have had it ready. They are very strict with when you can enter. Once we were inside we went straight to Covid testing. There were private stations set up, we self administered our tests as someone watched. We waited about 45 minutes for testing, then we received an email that ...

Turks and Cacios in Port for a day

We took the Best of Grand Turk Tour, this took us to North Creek where we walked along the beach and took pictures of some of the bluest waters that I have seen. After this, we made our way over to the Grand Turk Lighthouse. This is a 60-foot-tall lighthouse built in 1852 that overlooks North Creek. After this we made a stop to the Friendship Capsule which is on display outside the  JAGS McCartney International Airport.  This is a replica of the Friendship 7 capsule that splashed into the waters off of Grand Turk on February 20, 1962. One of things I found really interesting was that ferral donkeys just roamed around the island. Some would let you pet them while others you knew to stay away from.                                                                           ...

My name is Lara and I love to travel. My husband and I are nearing an age where we will be empty nesters.  So, this blog will be geared toward couple vacations, family vacations (with teenagers), and girls' trips. If my husband and I are not traveling by ourselves, we are traveling with our kids, or I'm either traveling with my sister or my best friend. I’m also a budget friendly. For me it’s about the experience and living life, you can travel and not break the bank. I’ll write about some of my travel tips and tricks!  Thanks for taking time to read my posts and please feel free to reach out to me at: TravelingwithLara@gmail.com  Follow me on twitter: @larastravels Pinterest: TravelingwithLara Instagram: TravelingwithLara This blog is a work in progress. Hilton Head, SC

We spent a week in Hilton Head. The weather was hot but the breeze coming off the ocean helped to cool us down. We spent a day at Coligny Plaza. We shopped for about 3 hours, walking around going into shops and getting ice cream. I found this vacation to be quite soothing for my soul. Something about salt water just heals me.  There are plenty of places that will let you rent bikes. My husband spent some time each day playing different golf courses. There certainly is a lot that this town offers.  I very much enjoyed my time here and intend to go back.

We decided to go over to the Upper Peninsula. We made a stop at Castle Rock. It was a spur of the moment decision and I’m glad we did it. It costs $1.00 to walk the roughly 170 steps to reach the platform. There you are greeted with breathtaking views. There is a small store with lots of really cool souvenirs. Even the teenagers enjoyed this stop. There are also statues of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe.
