London Day 2: Westminster Abbey, Diamond Jubilee Room, London Eye, Her Majesty's Theater

Feeling more comfortable with the tube and buses, we started the day off by heading over to Westminster Abbey.  I have to admit, I was just in awe of the architecture of the church, the statues, and tombs.  As soon as you walk in, you take a self-guided tour listening with headphones.  You are not allowed to take pictures within the church.  We walked around the church and the many chapels that were inside.  While there, we saw where William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, and many other authors were buried in Poet's Corner.  We also lit candles.

After taking our tour, we had tickets to go into the Diamond Jubilee room.  I felt this was well worth the extra money.  We saw cloaks from the 1600s, stained glass windows, paintings, and so much more.  As we were leaving, I took a picture of London's oldest door from 1050, and the Coronation Chair.

Afterwards, we made our way over to the London Eye.  We saw breathtaking views of London.   We stopped by an Ice Cream vendor just outside the London Eye.  I got a chocolate hazelnut flavor and my daughter got berry.  Both were very delicious.

Next, we walked around Piccadilly Circus and made our way to the Lego Store.  I find these stores to be little hidden gems.  Often you can find different landmarks made of Legos that you can get your picture taken with.  I really do enjoy this!

Our last stop for the night was going to Her Majesty's Theater and watching The Phantom of the Opera.  This was very well performed.  I would recommend seeing it.  The theater is beautiful.  The ceiling is stunning with the ornate carvings and painted scenes.

This was a fantastic day.  My feet were so sore from all the walking.  I was ready to head back to the flat and get some sleep for our tour of Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, the city of Bath and the Salisbury Cathedral on Day 3.
